Meet Shindo

Shindo Barquer, MSc, MA, LLB, BA, FRSA is the founder and Director of Barquer Training & Consultancy.

She is known for diversity, mental health, and leadership expertise. She has extensive experience delivering training programmes and is an international keynote speaker.

Shindo was the first Sikh female to join the West Midlands Police, and she has a policing background of 30 years.

She was an active Diversity champion within policing and an advocate for the progression and development of women. As a member of the International Association of Women in Policing, she was the keynote speaker at international training conferences in Canada, Australia, and the USA.

She was a member of the Independent Advisory group to the College of Policing UK advising on police diversity matters.

Shindo now uses her wealth of knowledge and personal experience on Diversity, Inclusion and Mental Health to work with organisations creating inclusive working environments. She known for her openness to sharing the impact of working shifts and demanding pressurised roles had on her health and wellbeing.

She is an accredited Mental Health First Aid England Trainer and Suicide Prevention Trainer. Shindo is licensed to deliver the award-winning Springboard Women’s Development Programme.
